As you probably know, Gold trading in the U.S. was confined to a shortened session, using the ACCESS after-hours electronic trading system.
Here is a quote from a Reuters story reporting this trading session:
"The session was supposed to run to 1700 EDT but was halted shortly after it started because of technical reasons. ...The December Gold futures contract initially jumped more than $26.00 to $300.00 an ounce."
We don't think any further comment is necessary.
According to the best reports we have - SPOT CASH Gold closed at $US 291.10
U.S. stock markets (and commodity and precious metals markets) are due to begin trading on Monday, September 17. Since there was almost no MARKET action in Gold this week, we are confining our commentary to our main Gold This Week page.
