Welcome to The Privateer - in context. Before we introduce ourselves, take a moment to consider this: Contrary to the cliche, a word is often worth a thousand pictures.
Pictures are fine to show things, but for ideas, you need words. The Privateer is a financial newsletter. Like all financial newsletters, we deal with information. But by itself, information is useless. It becomes useful as and to the extent that it is placed in a context.
And for a context to be useful, it must be based on sound and fundamental ideas and principles. That is what we present here - the basic economic, political, and financial ideas and principles upon which we base all our analysis.
These principles don't change, even though the markets do. If you think you can divorce ideas from economics, or principles from investment portfolios, we suggest that you read The Privateer and think again. You might change your mind.
